Siena House

Siena House provides refuge for pregnant women and their newborns facing crises in Santa Cruz County. The women and children we serve are experiencing traumas including homelessness, substance use, and intimate partner violence, and the vast majority of our participants reside below the poverty line for a household of 2, highlighting the critical need for our services in the community. Unlike many shelters in the region, Siena House offers an extended stay option beyond the typical limits and is accommodating for women with children. Participants are welcome to stay throughout their pregnancy and for up to one year postpartum. This unique feature provides stability and continuity of care during a crucial phase for mothers and newborns. Siena House is not just about temporary shelter; it’s about fostering lasting stability, health and safety. Through a comprehensive array of in-house programs and coordinated social services, we equip our participants with the tools and resources they need to build a brighter future for themselves and their children. From counseling and parenting classes to in-house doulas, assistance accessing healthcare, prenatal and postnatal care, and childcare services, we address the multifaceted needs of our participants in a holistic manner. Our goal is to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness, improving outcomes for mothers and their children and ensuring that every child has their needs met.
