Hi everyone! My name is Emily Rose Valenzuela, and I’m excited to introduce myself as the new Membership & Marketing Intern for the Chamber. I’m originally from Merced in California’s Central Valley, and I’m currently a senior graduating this spring at the University of California, Santa Cruz. As a first-generation college student, I’m majoring in Business Management Economics and minoring in Technology and Information Management. My passion for marketing began early. Around 10 years old, I created a fan account for a beauty influencer I followed and quickly became immersed in video and photo editing. Although that phase eventually faded, I continued to build my creative skills and even had the opportunity to meet the influencer in person! To this day, I’m considered an “OG” in that fandom. That experience opened my eyes to the power of online communities, content creation, and digital storytelling, all of which continue to fuel my interest in marketing today. As the Chamber’s Membership & Marketing Intern, I hope to grow in several areas including event coordination, content development, and analytics. I’m excited to support membership growth, both in gaining new members and encouraging past members to rejoin, and to create event and promotional content that drives strong engagement. I’m passionate about making things that not only look great but also perform well based on insights and data. This opportunity is especially meaningful to me because it brings so many of my experiences full circle. I previously interned with the Monterey Bay Economic Partnership (MBEP), where I helped coordinate events and connected with amazing people in our region. It was at one of those events where I met Melissa Whatley, who introduced me to Kristen Brown, our Executive Director. Now, Melissa serves as the Chair of the Chamber’s Membership and Marketing Committee, which makes this internship feel even more special. I truly love being involved in my community, and I’m honored to support the Chamber’s mission of connection, growth, and local impact
