Earlier this week, the June 7, 2022 ballot landed in voters’ mailboxes. The ballot was filled with election information on the candidates and initiatives on the ballot. The outcome of the election will have an impact on our region. We are co-hosting two candidate forums (both are free to attend): > North County Candidate Forum - Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the Hotel Paradox (6 pm — 8 pm) > South County Candidate Forum - Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at the Watsonville Civic Plaza Community Room (6 pm—8 pm). We encourage attendees to arrive at 5:30 pm so we can promptly begin close to the 6 o’clock hour. You can also register to participate via zoom for both forums. There is no cost to attend these forums. North County Forum - Thursday May 12 Learning about where each candidate stands on the issues of importance to Santa Cruz County voters takes some research on their respective websites and reading their campaign literature. The Santa Cruz County Chamber in partnership with the Santa Cruz County Business Council, the Downtown Association Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz Works will host a Candidate Forum on May 12, 2022, at the Hotel Paradox. The forum will be divided into two panel conversations moderated by Jody Biehl from Lookout Santa Cruz. We will first pose questions to our 28th Assembly District Candidates, after a short break, we will then hear from our 3rd District County Board of Supervisor candidates. This unique forum will allow attendees to hear directly from the candidates on issues critical to our community and learn each candidate’s priorities if elected. The moderator will ask each candidate to provide open and closing remarks between a set of prepared questions and to respond to written questions from the audience. South County Forum - Tuesday, May 17 On Tuesday, May 17 (6 pm — 8 pm) the Chamber will once again co-host the South Santa Cruz County Forum with our partners, the Santa Cruz County Business Council, the Pajaro Valley Chamber & Agriculture and moderated by the Santa Cruz Sentinel’s Steve Bennett and Melissa Murphy.
