In sports, your pivot foot is the essential plant step to your goal. The pivot foot in basketball, the back foot (pivot) of a baseball player in the batter’s box, the pivot foot of the soccer player setting her mark to make a penalty kick or the pivot foot of a track athlete as he prepares to sprint out of the starting block as the race gun goes off — the pivot foot controls the precise moment to your success. Your Chamber’s pivot foot has been and will continue to be as a convener of valuable information with our core mission to strongly advocate for economic vitality for our businesses. Networking events, business after hours, our popular lunch time speaker series, County-wide Business Expo and our Forks, Corks & Kegs Festival are examples of Chamber activities bringing people together for the common good and for our community. This is the hallmark of your Chamber. Today, we pivot our focus from face to face networking meetings to the on-line world driven by technology. Instead of those morning workshops, we are going ZOOMing (webinar format) to bring content and value to our members. Over the next 30 to 60 days, the Chamber will put in motion a series of webinars starting with one next week entitled: Coronavirus Update: What Small Businesses Need to Know. Our presenter will be Candice Elliott, Founder of Fortress and Flourish a consulting firm specializing in HR Policy and Leadership Development for emerging and established businesses. F&F builds out HR systems and provides workshops on best practices so your company is prepared for the unexpected. Joining Candice will be Caleb Baskin, Founder and Attorney of Baskin & Fowler Law firm https://baskinandfowler.com. Caleb is an entrepreneur at heart and in trade. He began his career as a litigator at Baskin & Grant, LLP, where he helped business owners and professionals defend and further their business interests. Since then, he has co-founded a number of companies, including Baskin + Fowler, where he represents businesses, professionals and entrepreneurs as legal counsel. The subject matter will include the following issues: Reductions in Workforce, New FMLA/Sick Leave Laws, How to Administer FMLA Leave and CARES Act Provisions for Employees (the $2.2 trillion dollar federal stimulus package). You can see the details and register for our free webinar on April 8th here: Click here! As the Chamber pivots to this new on-line communication tool, our focus continues to be the health and wellbeing of Santa Cruz County and our members. We will host these ZOOM webinars for free and trust our loyal members will continue to support the Chamber with your donations, if and whereever possible. By working together, we will get through these challenging times.
