The Poster's History: The Wharf to Wharf race was already a well loved race when, in 1986, Jim York decided that it needed a poster to commemorate the event. He worked hand in hand with the Wharf to Wharf committee each year to create a unique piece which highlighted one of our talented local artists. He worked hand in hand with the Wharf to Wharf committee each year to create a unique piece which highlighted one of our talented local artists. Unlike other posters which begin with a competition, the Wharf to Wharf art begins with a concept and an artist that is hand picked by the owner of York Framing Gallery. That job now belongs to current owner, Chamber Member, Robin Lerios. After the artist is chosen, and agrees to the project, Robin collaborates on a finished design and work of art that is to become the poster. The artist puts their unique gift into action and a graphic designer is chosen to complete the project. We offer high end posters and a run of limited edition prints that are printed on 100# paper. The limited editions are signed and numbered by the artist and accompanied with a certificate of authenticity. Many of the posters from years past are still available through the York Framing Gallery website store. www.yorkframinggallery.com How We Found The Artist: In October 2016 Robin took her employees on an Open Studios tour date. When they entered the studio of Sarah Bianco ~ Robin was smitten! The childlike joyous nature of Sarah's figures and the loose abstract backgrounds seemed just perfect. Robin asked Sarah right then if she could call her and propose the project. Sarah was excited from the onset and over the next few months through conversation and sketches created the terrific art we have today. The original painting, the posters, and the limited edition prints are for sale now at York Framing Gallery. Also available on their website store at www.yorkframinggallery.com
