Join us for this peer-to-peer gathering designed for prospective board members to connect with trustees of nonprofits seeking new board members. Guests will hear directly from fellow board members about their experiences, the rewards of board service, and why they choose to give back through leadership. Current board members are welcome to bring one nonprofit staff member from their organization to join the conversation.

Guests will learn more about putting their experience and skills to work for the benefit of our community, while nonprofits share about their board vacancies and other volunteer opportunities. Local nonprofits and their board members in attendance will offer testimonials on the rewards and value of giving back through board service. Director of Engagement & Impact Kevin Heuer will offer tips for effective board service.

Mountain Music Productions presents the first annual music benefit for the Santa Cruz County Veterans Memorial Building to support crucial services like groceries, hot meals, housing assistance, medical and mental healthcare, and clothing for local veterans.

Federal funding cuts have placed a burden on this vital local resource center and beloved community hub, the Santa Cruz County Veterans Memorial Building is a haven for those who don't know where to turn, a resource for those who have limited or no resources, and a community gathering place where meals are served, classes are taught, recovery meetings are attended, and live theatrical and musical performances are held.

Redwood Express, Love Creek, Slingshot Improv Tio, and the Anthony Arya Band will take the stage at the historic Santa Cruz Vets Hall on Friday, August 28th. Doors will open at 5:00 pm, and the show will start at 6:00 pm and end at 11;00pm. Seating is general admission with seats in the balcony and on the floor, as well as dance space. Tickets are $20 advance and day of show. Veterans and children under 12 get in free.
