Lauren Seaver, KSBW News Anchor began her career with KSBW 8 in 2014 as a weekend evening anchor and was promoted to weekday Sunrise anchor in 2017 (which is when she started drinking coffee by the pot!). During Lauren's time with KSBW 8, she's covered many big stories and events including wildfires, winter storms, political rallies for presidential contenders, AT&T Pebble Beach ProAm, California Rodeo Salinas, Monterey Car Week, and Pebble Beach Food and Wine, where she had the opportunity to make tacos with Guy Fieri. The outside turmoil wreaks havoc on our nervous system, resulting in strained personal confidence, guarded self-expression, spinning out, and low productivity, hindering our ability to work well with others and produce extraordinary results.That’s why we all need to intentionally evolve. Evolution is always happening, but the ability to take charge of our own evolution liberates us as human beings. When we learn to uncover our own blindspots and subconscious programming, and how they impact us at work, we can start changing our habits, our perspectives, and our context to experience more joy and fulfillment in our careers. This requires rigor, discipline, and time, but the results speak for themselves. When we’re in a state of joy at work, we go from churning out tasks, to experiencing ourselves as the contribution we’ve always wanted to be. Whether we’re balancing work, family, caretaking, or change in the world at large, we’ll discover new methods and perspectives that we can integrate into everyday life - tools to help us cope and rejuvenate ourselves when life brings us to the brink.

Haley Sage is a Certified Professional Grief Coach (IOPGC, ICF) and Health & Well-Being Coach trained at Duke Integrative Medicine. In her private practice, she helps clients and their families navigate the journey of loss and challenging change by developing practical tools to maximize whole-heart healing, resilience, and fortitude. An on-air host at KBCZ 89.3 Boulder Creek Community Radio, her show “Shore to Shore” captivates listeners around the world. Haley has also enjoyed a career of over two decades in international music tour management. Her columns about both health and wellness, as well as global music artists, appear in the SLV Post. Haley holds a B.A. in English and Art & Art History from Rice University and is an active member of her community in the greater Santa Cruz County.

Maximizing Your Pillars of Health for Quality and Longevity of Life - Presented by Karen Gosling
At the Dignity Health Wellness Center, our philosophy is that movement, healthy nutrition, connection, finding one’s purpose and recharging are essential routines to build and maintain resilience. Physical resilience is the body's ability to adapt to challenges, maintain strength and stamina, and recover quickly and efficiently. It's also the ability to function and recover when faced with physical demands, such as accidents or illness. Psychological resilience is the ability to cope mentally and emotionally with a crisis, or to return to pre-crisis status quickly. In the workplace, resiliency is about more than getting through challenges. Resilient individuals tend to handle stress more effectively. They typically experience greater job satisfaction and self-esteem. They’re more engaged and invested in building positive workplace relationships. They’re generally able to accept feedback better, too, and move past conflicts more quickly. To get ahead in business you need to pair technical knowledge with skills to become an effective leader. Two of the most important leadership skills are self-advocacy and resiliency, and they’re especially crucial for women who have more stressors, less support, and fewer privileges than their male counterparts. Women have higher rates of struggling with self-esteem, due to systemic undervaluing, which contributes to imposter syndrome, perfectionism and fear of failure, and while anyone can experience workplace loneliness, women in the workforce tend to bear the brunt of it, especially as they climb the corporate ladder.

Karen Gosling received her undergraduate degree in Sport Science at the Chelsea School of Human Movement in England, a Master’s degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Syracuse University, and graduated from Physical Therapy School at USC in 1993. Karen currently oversees the Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapy Programs at Dominican, is Director of the Orthopedic and Spine service line, Center for Lifestyle Management, and the Dignity Health Wellness Center. One of Karen’s passions is wellness for the staff and community, and she coordinates these departments to ensure that we have a full range of services to support all members of our community along the continuum of care. Karen serves on the Calciano Youth Mental Health Symposium Board and is a member of Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary.

A food writer's story on marketing yourself, taking risks, and zigging and zagging your way to your dream job - Presented by Lily Belli

Lily Belli has been a food writer for more than a decade. In the past three years since she became the food and drink reporter at Lookout Santa Cruz, a Pulitzer Prize-winning digital newspaper serving Santa Cruz County, she has wished she had a dollar for every time someone asked her how she got her job. Did she go to journalism school? No. Did she work at her college newspaper? Nope. Her path to this position – her current dream job – was anything but linear. Lily didn’t discover that she wanted to be a food writer until her mid-20s, but after she identified that goal, she went after it with purpose, even though the job she wanted didn’t actually exist. In this discussion, Lily reflects on the lessons she learned on the way, including how to be ready for when luck comes your way, how to be entrepreneurial with yourself and your skills, and that asking for what you want is just as important as showing up in your work. At the end, she hopes to help listeners brainstorm one small step they can take to get them closer to their own goals, no matter how far off they may seem.

Lily Belli is the food and drink correspondent at Lookout Santa Cruz, a digital newsroom based in Santa Cruz, CA. Founded in late 2020, Lookout Santa Cruz provides thoughtful and well-researched news coverage to Santa Cruz County. In May 2024, the Lookout team, including its 7 full-time reporters, won the coveted Pulitzer Prize in the Breaking News category for its reporting on the winter storms that pummeled the county during the winter of 2023. Lily moved to Santa Cruz in 2007 to attend UC Santa Cruz, and never really left. She fell in love with its rich food culture, vibrant agriculture and creative minds. Lily has reported on Santa Cruz County’s food scene for the past 12 years for alt-weeklies, magazines and newspapers, and joined the Lookout Santa Cruz team in 2021. Through her coverage, she seeks to widen the scope of food and drink reporting beyond “what’s good to eat,” to include trends, business news, agriculture, pop-ups and food trucks, wine and craft beer, and challenges facing the local food and beverage industry, putting people and local voices at the center. Keisha Browder – CEO, United Way of Santa Cruz County

As the Chief Executive Officer of United Way of Santa Cruz County, Keisha leads multiple countywide initiatives focused on the building blocks of a thriving life – education, economic mobility, health, and community engagement. She is an experienced nonprofit executive with a career spanning nearly 25 years in community development, education, youth success, and philanthropy throughout the United States. Keisha is a graduate of the University of Washington and the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders.With a focus on youth well-being, Keisha leads several initiatives focused on college and career readiness, health and wellness, economic mobility, and community engagement – this includes United 4 Youth in Watsonville and Live Oak; Jovenes SANOS in Watsonville; the countywide Youth Action Network and 211 Santa Cruz County. In addition, United Way conducts the nation’s longest-serving Community Assessment Project - a robust tracking of well-being is community data that includes the voice of Santa Cruz County residents. Keisha co-authored “Leveraging Data for Meaningful Improvements: How Credible Data Enables Partnership Alignment to Achieve Well-Being at the Population Level” (Community Quality of Life Indicators Best Cases VIII, Springer). This data supports local nonprofit organizations, government, and health services as we continue to create a healthy, thriving and safe Santa Cruz County for all. Keisha serves on several boards that reflect my values of equity, integrity, compassion, and dignity – these include Santa Cruz County Chamber of Commerce, Bay Federal Credit Union, Santa Cruz County Health Improvement Partnership, Black Surf Santa Cruz, and Soroptimist International of Watsonville. She co-chairs the United Way Statewide Public Policy Committee and serves on the United Way Worldwide Equity Council. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Silicon Valley, NAACP Santa Cruz County, and Rotary Club of Watsonville.

MariaElena De La Garza, Community Action Board

Born and raised in Watsonville, MariaElena brings over 30 years of nonprofit experience to her role as Chief Executive Officer of the Community Action Board (CAB) of Santa Cruz County, Inc. Under her leadership, CAB has expanded services, strengthened community engagement, embraced cultural reflection, and achieved significant fiscal growth. MariaElena's commitment to equity, humility, and service has been instrumental in driving the agency's success. As a prominent public speaker on local, statewide, and national platforms, MariaElena strives to amplify the voices of immigrants, Latinx families, and those affected by poverty. Grounded in her mother’s teachings, she advocates for services that foster a sense of belonging. The dicho, “Cada quien pone su granito de arena” (every person contributes their little grain of sand), inspires her to build networks and teams focused on cultural respect and making a tangible difference in the lives of others. Most recently, MariaElena was selected as a TEDxSantaCruz speaker, where she proudly highlighted the strength of Latina leadership. MariaElena holds a dual BA degree in psychology and Chicano studies from Scripps College in Claremont, California, with extensive leadership development, including the Bank of America National Leadership program, United Way Leadership for Community Transformation, Stanford University Graduate School of Business School’s Nonprofit Management Institute, Cornell University Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Program, and the Gilroy Leadership Program. In 2018, she was the recipient of the prestigious UC-Santa Cruz Tony Hill Memorial Award for her work in social justice. Annie Morhauser, Annieglass

Annie Morhauser is the founder and lead designer of Annieglass, a line of sustainably handcrafted glass tableware, home decor, and sculpture made in Watsonville, California. A graduate of California College of the Arts (CCA) with training in a range of glass techniques, Morhauser has invigorated the ancient craft of glassmaking with cutting-edge technology by constantly experimenting with new approaches. From humble beginnings as a hippie art student in the 1970’s, she is now an icon of American craft. Morhauser founded Annieglass in 1983 with just one employee. Over the last four decades, she has carved a courageous path as a woman artisan and business owner in a male-dominated field. Her exquisite Annieglass pieces, inspired by nature, her community, and experiences around the world, are on permanent display in the Smithsonian Museum of American Art. They can also be found in the Corning Museum of Glass in New York, and Glasgow Museum of Modern Design in Scotland. Annie is a member of the board trustees at CCA and has served as an advisor to the college’s MBA program, which she helped develop. She continues to mentor and support the dreams of emerging artists through an annual scholarship there. (also offer 2 to local high school students) Among her many honors, Annie was named the Santa Cruz County artist of the year in 2022 and elected to the Monterey Bay Business Hall of Fame in 2018.
