Join us for a 30-minute music meditation to lift your spirits and provide relaxation. Event co-presented with the Del Mar Caregiver Resource Center. This experiential session features the musical stylings of our Board-Certified Music Therapist Anya Ismail. Anya weaves together poetry, singing, spoken word and unique instruments like the shruti box to create a beautiful and calming experience. Open to all individuals in our community caring for a loved one. Registration required.

Keynote: Fred Keeley

Prior to making his decision to run for Mayor of Santa Cruz, Fred devoted many years of service to improving our community, including as a volunteer and as an elected official.

As a volunteer, Fred has served on a broad range of nonprofit boards, some of which include the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Foundation (founding board member), Sempervirens Fund (served as board lead on the establishment of Cotoni-Coast Dairies National Monument), and Housing Santa Cruz County (founding board member).

To help address key issues in Santa Cruz, Fred has stepped up to provide leadership as the convener of the City’s Council Advisory Committee on Homelessness and also of the Public Safety Task Force.

Most recently, Fred was a leading advocate and fundraiser for the highly successful campaign to defeat Measure D, which sought to permanently remove rail transit from Santa Cruz County.

Fred’s service as an elected official has included eight years as a Santa Cruz County Supervisor, six years as a State Assemblymember, and ten years as Santa Cruz County Treasurer.

Fred serves as a professor at the Panetta Institute for Public Policy, where he teaches a class called “Achieving Consensus in a Partisan Environment.” He also teaches a public budgeting class for students in San Jose State University’s Graduate Program in Public Administration.

A native of California, Fred is a proud product of public schools and is a longtime resident of Santa Cruz, where he lives with his wife, Barbara Keeley.
