Hospice of Santa Cruz County is looking for friendly, compassionate adults with friendly pet dogs to share two to four hours a week with hospice patients and families interested in connecting with a furry friend. Volunteers and their pet companions participate in the Volunteer Visitor training so they have the support they need to support hospice patients and their loved ones. We hope you will join this virtual Q&A session to see if this may be a good fit for you and your dog.

Booths are sold on a first-come first-served basis.

BOOTHS INCLUDE:

Your booth space will be 8 feet wide by 8 feet deep. Your booth will contain a 6ft. table with linens and one chair. You may have any of this furniture removed if you choose.
If you need extra table or electricity - be sure to select those options during registration.
There will be NO PIPE & DRAPE available at this outdoor venue. We recommend bringing a canopy with weights for each leg to protect against wind.
Displays may not be over 9’ tall and cannot impede the view of booths on other side.

Join this virtual Q&A Session with Forbes Ellis, Director of Volunteer Services at Hospice of Santa Cruz County. Volunteer Visitors provide companionship to hospice patients in their homes or in the residential care facilities where they reside. As a willing listener, a hand holder, and supportive presence, these special volunteers are vital members of the hospice team. Volunteer Visitors may also provide caregivers with much needed respite. Other duties include simple snack preparation, running errands, and other practical tasks.

The day will begin with a free virtual webinar (10:30 - 11:30 AM) hosted by the Unclaimed Property Division, who helps ensure that unclaimed property – including uncashed checks, wages, safe deposit box holdings, etc. – is reunited with its rightful owners. An estimated 65.5 percent of businesses in California have unclaimed property on their books, and business professionals may not even realize this is something they need to report.

Following this educational seminar, Controller Betty Yee will be our featured guest speaker at an in-person luncheon hosted at the beautiful Chaminade Resort. We are honored to welcome Controller Yee back to the community where she got her start as a public servant, and we look forward to thanking her for her years of impactful public service to our state. About State Controller Betty Yee

State Controller Betty T. Yee was elected in November 2014, following two terms of service on the California Board of Equalization. As Controller, she continues to serve the Board as its fifth voting member. Reelected for a second term as Controller in 2018, Ms. Yee is only the tenth woman in California history to be elected to statewide office.

As chief fiscal officer of the world’s fifth-largest economy, Ms. Yee chairs the Franchise Tax Board and serves as a member of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) and the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) Boards. The nation’s largest public pension funds, these two boards have a combined portfolio of more than $800 billion.

Ms. Yee serves on dozens of boards, commissions, and financing authorities affecting policies ranging from land management, affordable housing, and alternative transportation to crime victim compensation and health and educational facilities.
