82% of Santa Cruz County businesses are small employers who retain employees, part time employees and independent contractors. This workshop is a must attend for your small company.

For many businesses, determining whether workers should be classified as employees or independent contractors is an important decision that directly impacts the bottom line. On Monday, April 30, 2018, the California Supreme Court issued a landmark decision that reinterpreted the standard for whether a worker is properly classified an employee or independent contractor. The Court adopted a worker-friendly approach that dramatically restricts the use of independent contractors in California and puts the burden on employers to prove that any independent contractors meet all three factors of the newly-adopted test.

The Worker Classification Workshop will explain the standard embraced by the Court, including the presumption that all workers are employees as opposed to independent contractors, and the burden placed on any entity using independent contractors to prove proper classification under all three factors of the newly adopted "ABC test."

Come learn about how this new classification ruling may effect your business.
