Forecasters predict that Watsonville is expecting snow for locals to enjoy during the 3rd annual Watsonville Snow Day, Saturday, December 3, 2011, from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm, but you will not have to worry about your tire chains or scraping ice off of the windshield to enjoy. The community is invited to the plaza (corner of Peck and Union Street) where the corner will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland.
The admission cost into the snow area will be 1 can or a non-perishable food item that will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. Tickets will be available on a first come basis beginning at 3:00 pm. The Salvation Army will also have their red kettle to collect donations.
Santa will be on hand for a photo opportunity, the City of Watsonville Parks and Community Services will be hosting an arts and crafts area and Green Valley Cinemas will be serving complimentary hot chocolate.
This unique event is spearheaded by the good will and generosity of June and Rogelio Ponce and other donors. The City of Watsonville is organizing and participating in the event as well.
