We'd like to invite you to an introductory Time Banking class on Saturday, October 8 from 2:00 to 5:00. It will be held at United Way, 4450 Capitola Road, Suite 106, Capitola. Sheryl Walton, a trainer for TimeBanks USA, will be the instructor.
Our local economy could benefit from the resources and relationships Time Banking can provide. Please join us to discuss how we can initiate this service in Santa Cruz County. Here are some possible discussion guidelines.
• What would be the purpose of our Time Bank? Who will it serve? Time Banking can be used to connect groups that would least likely be together. It can build trusting relationhips and organize to create change in neighborhoods, all while exchanging services. Time Banking is a tool.• Who would possibly be a good coordinator?• What geographic area would it serve?• What agencies, CBOs, policymakers, schools, and small businesses in our area will be key to referring and boosting the use of a Time Bank or may become partners themselves? Every potential partner has something to give and receive.• Who are potential funders? Though not a lot of money is needed to operate a Time Bank, some funds will be necessary.• Where would the Time Bank be located? Consider what organization, library, school, or church might be a good host.• Who would be the worker bees to help get it started?
