The Santa Cruz County Chapter of the American Red Cross is holding a benefit auction to Celebrate the Red: 113 Years of Red Cross in Santa Cruz County on September 30, 2011. The event, sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank, will be held at the Chaminade Resort and Spa in Santa Cruz and will feature local wines, hors d’oeuvres, a silent and live auction, and local jazz music. The Master of Ceremonies will be Terry Medina, former Police Chief of Watsonville and Colleen Chen, Central Coast News Morning Anchor.
All proceeds from this event will help ensure the continuation of the many essential services provided by your local American Red Cross such as: · Disaster Relief – Emergency services for victims of all disasters, including local home fires. · Disaster Readiness – Works every day to ensure our community is ready for a disaster by building a corps of volunteers and partners who are trained and able to activate immediately. · Emergency Preparedness – Life-saving First aid, CPR, and disaster preparedness training courses. · Blood Services – Keeping our region supplied with life-saving blood · Service to Armed Forces –Emergency communication between service members and their families. · Youth Services – Building leadership and humanitarian skills in local high school and college students.
