Please join the Pajaro Valley Chamber on Sunday, September 11, 2011, at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds at the Ocean Speedway at 12:00 p.m. where there will be a commemorative ceremony to remember and honor the memory of 9/11. Almost every fire department, police agency and other first responders are on board for this event. There will be a 21-gun salute, a fly-over and a local pastor will give an invocation. There has been an old flagpole which has been refurbished and a team of firefighters will use it to recreate the memorable photo of a fire crew lowering the flag.

This event will also feature an American flag the size of a football field that will be draped from the extended ladders of two fire trucks and will serve as a backdrop for the ceremony. This will be an exciting event which will begin at noon on Sunday, September 11, and will also include a country band and a free BBQ.
