The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with live music, hors d’oeuvres and a no-host wine & beer bar for all team contestants and spectators. You will want to buy raffle tickets at the event to win great prizes!
The formal program begins at 7:30 p.m. headed by emcee Dale Julin. The Trivia Challenge contest involves teams of three persons competing against each other to answer a wide variety of questions (see next panel for sample topics and questions). There are three rounds: Qualifying, Semi-Final and Final (if ties, there is Sudden Death). Meanwhile, spectators cheer for their teams! The top three teams receive “Trivia Challenge Champion” plaques. In addition, a perpetual plaque memorializes the first place winners of each year. Throughout the evening, guests will learn more about the Literacy Program, its many benefits to Santa Cruz County, and how they may become involved in the program.
How can I participate? You can participate in several ways. Be a spectator for $15 in advance ($20 at door), or be on a three-person team for $300 (includes 3 free spectator tickets), or find a group, business or individual to sponsor you as a team, or be an event sponsor to help pay for the event. You can also buy raffle tickets that evening to win terrific prizes. Everyone enjoys free hors d’oeuvres. To buy spectator tickets, sign up for teams, or become a sponsor, send in the attached tear-off with your check or go online.
