The 2011 Santa Cruz Film Festival is presenting 167 films representing 33 countries, including 67 that were produced by Santa Cruz/Monterey local filmmakers. More than just films, SCFF is also hosting several educational panels, workshops, events and parties. Visit the Film Festival website to check out the Festival lineup and buy tickets today. You can also download a PDF of the program guide to review at your leisure.
The films being featured explore a broad and diverse spectrum of subjects, genres, styles, and cultures. Activism and social justice (The Chicago 8 ), the human consequences of war (Hidden Battles), the fragility of life and love (Ollie Kepler's Expanding Purple World), recent cultural history (Space, Land and Time: Underground Adventures with Ant Farm), surreal existential comedy (Embargo), and LGBT issues (A Marine Story) all get the spotlight. There is also some plain old DIY weirdness (The Beast Pageant) and classic horror (True Nature). A little something for everyone.
A true labor of love, we hope you enjoy and appreciate this year's program. See you at the Fest!
