Event Description: 2015 Beneath the Waves Film Festival - Santa Cruz - Day 2 - Family Night The 2015 Beneath the Waves Film Festival (BTWFF) - Santa Cruz, will be screened Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Sept. 24th, 25th, and 26th, at the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Exploration Center (35 Pacific Avenue, across from the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf). While reserved seating is no longer available for Day 1 - Thursday Sept 24th Opening Night, this 3-day FREE event continues with Day 2 - Friday, Sept. 25th Family Night (4-9pm), and Day 3 - Saturday, September 26th Encore Screening (1-5pm) and Marine Organization Exhibits (10am-5pm). Day 2 - Friday Family Night includes films especially selected for a younger audience, hands-on activities for kids, and an Ocean Careers Panel that will include presentations and discussions with folks actively engaged in work on and in the ocean. Day 3 - Saturday, September 26th includes an Encore Screening of all films shown from 1-5pm, as well as info and exhibits from local marine and coastal organizations, from 10am to 5pm. Each day’s screenings are ADMISSION FREE (!!) and include full access to the Sanctuary Exploration Center, which features state-of-the art exhibits and interactive displays highlighting the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and its incredible underwater environment. Friday, September 25th, 4:00pm - 9:00pm Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Exploration Center (35 Pacific Ave, across from the Santa Cruz Wharf) *4:00 pm - 6:00pm - Film Screening - We have selected the most outstanding films for a younger audience. *4:00pm- 6:00pm - We will have hands-on activities (Jumbo Squid dissection, Rubber Fish Printing, Marine Mammal activities). You can drive an underwater submarine and play with engaging interactive exhibits. *6:30pm-8:00 pm- We have an outstanding Ocean Careers Panel with presentations and discussion with marine mammal expert Dr. Asha De Vos, Underwater filmmaker Kip Evans, Dave Zahniser from the Marine Mammal Center and Commercial Fisherman Jim Anderson. *8:00-9:00pm Continue to enjoy the fascinating films.
