The organizers of the Monterey Bay Regional Business Plan Competition have a workshop scheduled at the Santa Cruz Chamber to help competitors successfully complete the first application that is due February 28.
The one-page application for the competition, information on the workshops and a complete schedule can be found at www.MBRCompetition.com. Here there are instructions, entry forms and a participation agreement.
"The one-page application will be used as the screening tool and a grouping of finalists that are chosen to write a full business plan to be presented to a panel of investors on May 13th," said Competition Chair, Susan Barich. "Along with the in-person workshops, we've also included instructions and a video tutorial online at www.MBRCompetition.com for people that are unable to attend the scheduled meetings. Last year we received more than 60 applicants and we want to make sure everyone understands how to complete the one page application to ensure they have the best chance of competing in May."
All start-ups that can show how they will create jobs in the tri-county area are welcome to apply. Semifinalists will be chosen from the one-page applications due February 28th to complete full business plans and compete in the final event on May 13th. Prizes range from $1,000 cash for the winning student team, to $5,000 cash for the winning lifestyle company, to $50,000 in cash and professional services for the winning venture-play company.
