Armenian Pianist Tanya Gabrielian will perform selections by Stanchinsky, Rachmaninov, and Beethoven at the “Committed: A Program for Mental Health Awareness” concert on Saturday, September 21, at the First Congregational Church at 900 High Street in Santa Cruz. A pre-concert art exhibit will feature work by local artists who have been affected by mental illness, and information from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and other local mental health organizations will be available. The art exhibit opens at 7:00 PM, followed by the concert at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $30 for general admission, $25 for seniors, and $20 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at www.distinguishedartists.org. 50% of the proceeds from the sale of concert CDs will be donated to NAMI of Santa Cruz to fund free education, advocacy, and support services for individuals and family members affected by mental illness.
