Event Description:

Community Leadership Visit to... Santa Cruz County

October 27th & 28th

 CLV13CLV13.2CLV13.3CLV13.4

You are invited to join seventy-five Santa Cruz County leaders on a Community Leadership Visit (CLV) to Santa Cruz County. We’ll have the unique opportunity to visit “home” from the point of view of outsiders, exploring the innovations and inspirations that characterize and identify Santa Cruz as a brand known around the world.

Our goals:

  • To strengthen the network of decision makers, public and private, who shape our economic system,
  • To provide them with a cohesive overview of our innovative economic opportunities county-wide, and
  • To develop with them a shared narrative about what makes our relatively small economy famous for creativity, fearless entrepreneurship, and extraordinary outcomes.

We will visit with our scientists, researchers, and technologists about their vision of ‘what’s next,’ from strawberries, organic foods, and productive fisheries to genomics, big data, new materials manufacturing, and artificial intelligence. We’ll hang out with our design community – the people who take an idea and turn it into a skateboard, a blue-tooth headset, a building, a mobile app, a motorcycle, a light fixture, or a piece of art. We’ll talk about how our local tourism attractions have become competitors with Disney and University Studios and how our hotels have been transformed into unique, world-class destinations. We’ll meet with developers and property owners who are creating the cutting edge of workspace concepts and designs.

Above all, we will talk together about us – our economic community – using the stories, the vision, and the inspiration of those who are creating our future today.

The Chamber will coordinate all arrangements including overnight hotel accommodations at the Dream Inn, transportation, meals, and program session details. The all-inclusive fee for participation in this program is $395. You are invited to be one of the business principals, local elected officials, public and education administrators, and community leaders to participate in this unique opportunity.

Modeled on the Chamber’s two recent CLVs to San Luis Obispo in 2012 and to Boulder and Fort Collins, Colorado in April this year, the Chamber expects this trip to sell out quickly. Please make your reservation today.*

For more information please contact Amanda Rotella or Bill Tysseling at (831) 457-3713. You can also download detailed summaries of 2013 Colorado trip and the 2012 San Luis Obispo trip for background on past CLV experiences.

* Registration is subject to space availability and participant distribution targets. Payments will be refunded in full in the event that we are unable to accommodate you.
