Local entertainer, Joe Ferrara, will emcee and perform in the fifth annual Songfest
for Prostate Cancer Awareness, featuring a host of talented performers from 5 to 9 PM
 on Saturday, September 7th at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center in Santa Cruz, CA. New to
 the event this year are, local women's chorus Zambra, Rhan Wilson's All In Good Time
 Ukulele Orchestra and folk group Jim Stevens & Friends. Folk singers Steve Kritzer and
Bill Bortin return from last year to round out the billwith Bortin joined by his friend Jerry Best.
September is National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. "The average woman has a
working knowledge of the facts about breast cancer," says Ferrara, "The average man knows
almost nothing about prostate cancer. Everyone, men and women alike, need to know the
basic facts about prostate cancer. I was the one diagnosed with prostate cancer, but my whole
family had to live with the effects of the disease," said Ferrara, father of four, grandfather of
seven and great-grandfather of five. Members of the Santa Cruz County Prostate Cancer
Support Group will be in attendance to distribute information about prostate cancer and
answer any questions.
