The Cultural Council of Santa Cruz County in conjunction with the Santa Cruz Area Chamber of Commerce welcomes the public to its new home with a ribbon cutting ceremony and Open House on Friday, June 7th at 5pm. Part of the festivities will be celebrating the new name: Arts Council Santa Cruz County. Representatives from the Arts Council staff and board, artists and representatives from arts organizations, business leaders, and city, county, and state officials will be in attendance. The festivities, which include an exhibition of work from Open Studios Committee members, will continue until 9pm.
Congressman Sam Farr is scheduled to be among the group of the dozens upon dozens expected to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony and First Friday festivities. Also expected to attend are: Supervisors Neal Coonerty and Bruce McPherson, Scotts Valley City Councilmember Donna Lind, Santa Cruz Mayor Hilary Bryant and City Councilmembers Don Lane and Cynthia Mathews, and Former Director of Santa Cruz County City Development Ceil Cirillo.
“Promoting the arts is crucial to the identity of the culturally rich Central Coast,” Congressman Farr said. “I am thrilled that the Arts Council Santa Cruz County is opening its new home at the Tannery Arts Center campus. This new space will only enhance the great work they already do investing in our community by supporting local artists and art programs.”
In addition to unveiling its new home on the Tannery Arts Center campus, the Arts Council will take part in the Tanniversary celebration on Saturday, June 15th. The Arts Council will again open its doors to the public and host family-friendly art activities led by SPECTRA and Mariposa’s Art teaching artists from 3-5pm. Santa Cruz-based students who were accepted into the California State Summer School for the Arts (CSSSA) this year will also be recognized during a brief ceremony.
