The annual Cinco de Mayo Festival will take place Sunday at Watsonville Plaza and surrounding streets. Free entertainment will compliment a mix of activities, including information booths, arts and crafts and food stands.
Main Street will be closed between East Beach and Maple streets to make way for the festivities. Four musical groups and a folklorico dance troupe will perform during the five and a half-hour event.
“We have some great music lined up,” said former Watsonville City Councilman Oscar Rios, who helps head up the event along with the sponsor Fiestas Patrias de Watsonville. “It’s always a special celebration.”
Thousand of people typically pack the event that includes room for dancing in the closed streets.
