125th Annual Meeting and Luncheon of the Santa Cruz Area Chamber of Commerce

The Future of Work: Global and Local Trends That Are Reshaping Business

The 2013 Santa Cruz Chamber Board of Directors invites you to attend the Chamber’s 125th Annual Meeting and Luncheon January 24 at the Cocoanut Grove.

The Annual Luncheon also features the introduction of the Chamber's board and officers, acknowledgment of retiring board members, appreciation of sponsors and volunteers, a report on the state of the Chamber and its plans for 2013, plus a fascinating presentation by Kevin Wheeler.

We are witnesses the transformation of the workplace and of work itself. Kevin Wheeler, who spent years as an HR Executive in global corporations and for nearly two decades has been a sought-after international consultant and public speaker, will discuss the fundamental changes in the skills and work-styles necessary to be competitive, the relationship between “talent” employees and their employers, and the evolving structures of business required to succeed.

Forces such as the globalization of education, robotics and artificial intelligence, specialization and product individualization are re-forming the business models of industries from the international consultancy of IBM to the construction trades. Kevin will describe:
· How worker attitudes that are transforming the composition of the workplace
· Why we are moving toward a more urban, mobile, contingent and networked workforce
· The evolution of the concept of "employee”
· The effects of forces from generational evolution to social meda contributing to a once-a-century shift in how we work

Join us for this controversial, exciting, eye-opening presentation with a renowned international speaker.
