Event Description:

Travel, Tourism & Your Local Marine Sanctuary

Come network with the Federal Advisory Council of the Marine Protected Areas Center, the Sanctuary Advisory Council, NOAA staff, the president of the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, members of the local business community and our evening’s speakers as you learn about the Department of the Interior’s new National Travel & Tourism strategy and the potential influence National Marine Sanctuaries can have on travel & tourism in local communities.

Tentative speakers include Mr. Ted Balestreri of the Cannery Row Company; Ms. Eileen Sobeck, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks within the Department of the Interior; Dan Basta, Director of the Office of National Marine Sanctuaries; and Suneil Thomas, VP Strategic Partnerships at Liquid Robotics. Also attending from around the country will be the Marine Protected Areas Federal Advisory Council and the Sanctuary Advisory Council, both of whom are interested in travel, tourism, and ways the Marine Sanctuaries play a supportive role.

Local wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

$40 for Santa Cruz Chamber members and $50 for non-members. Additional donations are welcome.
