Where do you find inspiration and inner strength to deal with issues that have no precedence? Mayor Bryant will deliver the final presentation in our series this year “Becoming Fearless: Money, Career, & Life Lessons”. Please join us for a very special Women in Business Luncheon to celebrate the holidays and help those in need right here in Santa Cruz. The "Giving" luncheon features networking, a delicious lunch and a fabulous speaker, presentation of Student of the Quarter, and a raffle for themed baskets to benefit our student scholarship fund. Our giving luncheon is a great opportunity to hear a wonderful speaker, connect with other businesspeople, and help our community and local causes. Women in Business luncheons are organized by the Santa Cruz Chamber Women in Business committee but everyone is invited, including men. About Hilary Bryant
Hilary spent her childhood in a small New Hampshire town, moving with her family to Los Gatos just before entering Los Gatos High School. After graduation from UC Santa Cruz, she met her now husband, Dr. David Shuman, a local veterinarian; together they built Westside Animal Hospital in Downtown Santa Cruz. While helping to establish the business Hilary became a Realtor and Broker Associate at Karon Properties and began to donate time to local causes. As a Past President and Board Member of Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary Club, Hilary has worked on local fundraising and community service projects. She has twice co-chaired the club's annual bike ride that raises funds for the new Rotary Track and Field at Santa Cruz High School. As a member of the Santa Cruz City Council, Hilary combines her personal knowledge of local outdoor resources, her business experience and her technical expertise to help Santa Cruz with critical issues in tough economic times. As Vice Mayor, she worked to grow and retain business in Santa Cruz, was active in the effort to bring the Santa Cruz Warriors (the NBA Development League affiliate of the Golden State Warriors) to the City, and led efforts to ensure funding for the Santa Cruz Teen Center. In her free time, Hilary enjoys running, cycling, competing in triathlons, surfing, and trying to keep up with her kids in all of their various activities. Giving Lunch Recipient Coats for Kids: Every October, November and December Classic Vapor collects, cleans and distributes thousands of coats free of charge that are donated by our customers and the general public. In 2011 over 9,000 coats were given to children in need through out the Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties. Please bring a new or gently used coat (please no red or blue coats). Raffle: Proceeds from the Raffle benefit the Women in Business Scholarship.
Cost: $37 for members of any local Chamber and $50 for non-members. To claim a Chamber-member discount, please enter the name of your Chamber in the Comments box on the registration form. Reservations are necessary and space sells out quickly for this annual event.
