On August 17, 2010, in collaboration with the Santa Cruz Chamber of Commerce, the Santa Cruz Downtown Association, and the Small Business Development Center at Cabrillo College, Small Business Majority will hold a free working session for small business owners to discuss how you can take advantage of the new legislation and how we can best work together to ensure that Small Business voices continue to be heard in the development of administrative rules and policies for health care. Healthcare Reform Healthcare reform is now the law of the land, but a lot of work remains to be done. Its reforms will roll out over the next decade. As a small business person you will have important decisions to make that will affect your employees, your health insurance, and your bottom line.
David Chase, Small Business Majority's California outreach manager, and Micah Weinberg, a senior research fellow at the New America Foundation will discuss the aspects of federal healthcare reform most important to small businesses including tax credits, the creation of a health insurance exchange through which small employers and self-employed individuals will be able to purchase affordable coverage, cost containment, and insurance reforms.
Starting now and in the coming years, important decisions that affect small businesses will be made by policymakers at the state and federal levels. David and Micah will also seek your input - your questions and concerns about the new law and the impacts it will have on your business. This and dozens of similar conversations throughout California will form the foundation of Small Business Majority's continued engagement with leaders in Washington, DC, and Sacramento.
Join us in learning about Healthcare Reform and its impacts on us as small businesses and contribute to the Healthcare policy recommendations that will influence new regulations and the implementation of reform. About Small Business Majority Small Business Majority is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization founded and run by small business owners and focused on solving the biggest problem facing small businesses today: the skyrocketing cost of health coverage. By working directly with congressional leaders and other national, state and regional business groups, the organization has helped ensure that elected officials understand the needs of small businesses and that public policies enacted reflect those needs.
