Rising International, the Santa Cruz nonprofit that sells a wide range of fairly traded goods from around the world, is going through boxes and pulling out all kinds of hidden treasure for a summer sample sale. The sale will raise funds and awareness for keeping women and girls free and safe from human trafficking.
Human trafficking has been reported to be the fastest growing criminal industry in the world. Rising International and the Florida based non-profit, Made by Survivors, have teamed up to train trafficking survivors in India and Nepal to make jewelry and fashion accessories. Running their own micro-enterprises enables these women and girls a chance at a better life.
Sale takes place at Rising International’s headquarters, or you can find treasures made by human trafficking survivors online at http://www.risinginternational.org/shop For more details call: 831.429.RISE (7473).
