7:30 to 9:00 p.m. | Humanities Lecture Hall Emeritus Faculty Don Rothman hosts a dynamic discussion with Oakes College founding Provost and Emeritus Professor J. Herman Blake.
J. Herman Blake UCSC was formed during a time of social foment. Its ardent backers were determined to create a university that responded to the social, political and economic concerns of the time. Pioneer alumni often talk about the "grand experiment" that took shape in the redwood-covered hills of the former Cowell Ranch property. As part of that early grand experiment, J. Herman Blake – founding provost of Oakes College, and currently humanities scholar in residence at the Medical University of South Carolina, is well qualified to talk about education's transformative power during periods of social, political, and economic change.
Register online today. This event is free and open to the public and parking is complimentary in Stevenson College lots.
