Bike Dojo is excited to announce the details of their first Bike Distribution Day which will be held on March 24th, 12pm at the Bike Dojo. The event kicks off the first round of bike giveaways for their charity Project B.I.K.E. (Believe In Kids’ Exercise). Bikes will be donated to children ages 5-15 who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford one. The event will also feature an official proclamation by Mayor Don Lane, marking the charity as a significant event in Santa Cruz’s history.
“Our goal is to give away over 100 bikes this year. We couldn’t be more excited about our first giveaway”, says Rob Mylls, owner of Bike Dojo. “We’re going to have a Bike Distribution Day each month where kids can pick out their new bikes.”
Bike Dojo is grateful to partner with Beach Flat Community Center, a non-profit program of Community Bridges, who is instrumental in promoting the program and finding kids to participate.
Working together with a common vision will enable Bike Dojo, and the cycling community of Santa Cruz, to give more to children in need and make a real difference. “We are really grateful to our sponsors. Their contribution makes a huge difference and we are excited to have such amazing local business who care as much as we do who want to be a part of something extraordinary,” says Mylls.
New Leaf Community Markets, Ow Properties, Spokesman Bicycles, Woodstock’s Pizza, By Marisa Catering, and the Santa Cruz Good Times have all contributed significantly and their continuing support will ensure that more bikes will be given away in the near future.
