Total of 8 classes-please sign up before Series starts.Who has been pushing the science of radio forward for nearly 100 years? Who can continue to get information in and out of an area when all other methods fail? Ham, or Amateur Radio, operators. They're the ones always yelling "Mayday!" into sputtering devices in disaster films. And you could be one of them.
Once again, Cruzio invites our members to join the rarified group of Ham Radio Licensees. Classes start March 8th. We'll meet for eight Thursdays, till April 26th, noon to 1:30 pm, in Cruzio's classroom. At the end of the class there will be a Saturday afternoon exam for anyone who wants to cap it all off with a ham license (and yes, that means your own call sign).
The class is free of charge, but there is a book to purchase, and we'd like you to register ahead of time.
It's a benefit to Cruzio to have radio-knowledgeable staff -- after all, one of our backup connections is via radio and we use radio to supply wireless Internet at speeds up to 300 Mbps to many sites in the Bay Area. We're happy to do our part to make the expertise available to the greater community as well. Kudos to Cap Pennell and the ARES group of Santa Cruz for their generous donation of time to this free class.
Be a true geek! Understand what's behind radio transmission and get a license to operate and a call sign.
