Event Description:

Social media consultant and freelance journalist Karen Kefauver returns to the Capitola Book Cafe in March to teach a new workshop series, "Social Media Toolbox: Learn how to promote yourself and your business with Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter." Kefauver, a Santa Cruz resident, launched classes on social media last year including talks for the Santa Cruz Chamber of Commerce and at the Apple Store in Los Gatos. The workshop consists of three classes targeted for small business owners, writers and speakers who are beginners or new to social media. Each two-hour class will focus on how-to's, tips and best practices. A more advanced series will take place in spring, dates to be finalized.


Overwhelmed by social media? Learn time-saving tips, which services to prioritize and how to manage your online communications to build your brand, improve customer service, increase revenue and even get your writing into the hands of readers and agents. It's time to join revolution: let Karen help you get started on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, three of the top social media services.

Wed, March 3: Facebook

Demystify the difference between Facebook groups and Facebook fan pages and discover how they can help your business grow. We'll also review basic features of Facebook.

Wed., March 10: LinkedIn

Learn how to improve promotion with profile pages on yourself and your business. Plus, leverage the power of the groups on LinkedIn.

Wed., March 17: Twitter

Have you started tweeting? You'll learn secrets to setting up your account, what to tweet about and time-saving tips. This service is a must!

The classes are scheduled for three Wednesday nights, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the first session on Facebook, on March 3, the second on LinkedIn on March 10 and Twitter on the 17th. The cost is $30 per class or $60 for all three.
