Santa Cruz Dance Theater (SCDT) is a new dance company dedicated to bringing world-class performances to our community. SCDT honors the rich traditions of classical ballet while also presenting bold contemporary works that showcase the full range of what dance can express. Our shows will bring the full richness of our art to the Santa Cruz community, and we can’t wait to share it all with you.
One of the things we’re most excited about in this venture is that we’ll be providing a home for high-caliber dance in Santa Cruz. This new company will allow us to give performance opportunities to amazing dancers from around California and the nation, and allow local dance students to learn the art of dance alongside incredible role models. This winter, we’ll be bringing in Pacific Northwest Ballet principal dancer Lucien Postlewaite to lead the cast of our Nutcracker, along with independent dancers Nicole Khoo, Aly Ely, Camelia Wilderlove, Catrina Contini, Avery Bruni, and John Viggiano. This year’s Nutcracker is set to be a blueprint for the vitality we want to bring to performing arts here in town.
