Spontaneous Confections is a specialty pastry and chocolate confections business in Santa Cruz, founded by Pastry Chef Justin Lenorovitz. After years of sharing his homemade creations with neighbors and friends, Justin launched the business in 2023, drawing on his training at the prestigious Institut Culinaire de France in Bordeaux, France. We use less sugar than most traditional pastries, letting the rich, natural flavors of California shine. The Veterans Memorial Building (SCCVMB) is a historic cornerstone in Santa Cruz, dedicated to serving veterans while welcoming the broader community through a wide range of programs, events, and services. Built in 1932, it is a historic landmark in downtown Santa Cruz As a proud 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we operate with a dual mission: supporting local Veterans through direct resources and preserving this storied facility as an accessible, community-centered space.
Led by a Board of Trustees (established in 1995), the organization oversees daily operations, community programs, and long-term stewardship of this essential facility. We work closely with county agencies, local partners, and Veteran-serving organizations to ensure the building remains a reliable hub for support, connection, and outreach.
As part of our broader mission, the Veterans Village stands as a forward-leaning initiative to provide Permanent Supportive Housing for homeless and at-risk Veterans in Santa Cruz County. The project offers stable housing, supportive services, and a strong sense of community to help Veterans regain their footing and rebuild their lives with dignity, structure, and long-term stability.
The Veterans Memorial Building is more than a venue. It’s a gathering point for the entire community. Through weekly service days, resource fairs, cultural events (like art shows and concerts), and collaborative programming, we bring Veterans, families, and local residents together under one roof. Our work strengthens community ties, expands service capacity, and ensures Veterans remain connected to the support network they’ve earned. Every dollar spent here directly supports our mission to serve those who served, including funding permanent and supportive housing for homeless Veterans.
Our building offers versatile rental opportunities for public and private events like meetings, celebrations, training events, performances, and community gatherings. With multiple spaces and unique historic features, the Veterans Memorial Building provides an affordable, mission-driven alternative to traditional venues. Every rental directly supports Veteran services and helps preserve this legacy site for future generations.
