You will hear me repeat this many times throughout the year - but a milestone anniversary is worth repeating. 2019 is the 130th year for your Santa Cruz Area Chamber. And in the spirit of such a milestone, we have planned some very special programs and events that will recognize the Chamber’s significant contributions to our region for 2019. We’ll actively engage on today’s issues and we will take the long view look at how the Chamber continues to be the catalyst for the greater Santa Cruz County business community well into the future. On Wednesday morning, February 13 at the Dream Inn, the Chamber will kick-off 2019 with our annual members’ meeting. This meeting is open to all Chamber members and the public. Over the years this event has been recognized as the business sector’s kickoff event of the year. I am delighted to announce that incoming Santa Cruz City Mayor Martine Watkins and incoming Chair of the Santa Cruz Board of Supervisors, Ryan Coonerty will keynote our morning event. Santa Cruz County is blessed with many amazing places to enjoy a breakfast and network with business colleagues and friends, but the Dream Inn is the place to be on February 13th. This is a must attend community event! You can register for your ticket or your table by clicking here. Our annual membership meeting is an opportunity for the Chamber to introduce our 2019 Santa Cruz Area Chamber Board of Directors to the community. Collectively we have an excellent group that represents every industry sector of Santa Cruz County. I refer to the Board as Santa Cruz County’s community champions. Once you meet them, I am certain you will agree they are a special group. The morning highlight will be our conversation with two very distinguished public sector leaders from the City and County who have been asked to give us their respective ideas about their policy priorities for 2019. We will hear about affordable housing, transportation, homelessness, sustainable water supply and a host of other looming issues that impact our community. And of course, we want to share with you how the Chamber stands ready to partner with our public sector to address these issues in a collaborative way that ensure we promote a vibrant economy for Santa Cruz County. I look forward to seeing you on February 13th at the Dream Inn!
