Celebration of Clean Energy, Community, Sustainability Scheduled for July 14 in Santa Cruz Monterey Bay Community Power (MBCP) today announced it will be hosting the First Annual Community Power Festival, a family-friendly event celebrating clean energy, community, and sustainability. Scheduled for Saturday, July 14 in Santa Cruz’s San Lorenzo Park, the Community Power Festival will provide residents and businesses with an opportunity to engage, educate, and learn about clean energy and sustainability while supporting community organizations. Featuring interactive booths, local vendors, community organizations, food and live music, the Community Power Festival has all the elements for a valuable and fun annual community tradition in the making. There is no charge for attendees and MBCP is making vendor and sponsorship opportunities very accessible. “We wanted to create an event that brings some of the core values of Monterey Bay Community Power to life, and education is a big part of that,” explains Peter Berridge, Marketing and Communications Manager for MBCP. “We are excited to bring our community together to learn more about clean energy and sustainability, and aboutMBCP and other community organizations that also play an important role in the health of our community and our planet.” As a public, not-for-profit agency formed by Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties to provide clean energy and support Tri-County economic vitality, MBCP has a duty to engage and educate community members. MBCP’s objective for the Community Power Festival is to build a tradition of collaborating with community partners to engage, educate and continue building MBCP into a valuable community resource. As a key player in the Monterey Bay region’s effort to meet clean energy and sustainability goals, MBCP is becoming a unifying force for our communities. During its inaugural year, MBCP expects between 1,500 and 3,000 visitors to attend the Community Power Festival. MBCP’s goal for 2019 is to host a different Community Power Festival event in each county it serves, benefiting the local communities in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz counties.
