Last Thursday afternoon, the sun was shining with a light spring breeze filling the air at Roaring Camp Railroad where 17 chambers from Santa Cruz and Santa Clara County, and yes, Mariposa County too, came together in a collaborative event. This Mega Mixer, as it was aptly called, brought nearly 400 chamber members to Roaring Camp in an exchange of friendship and networking that is a cornerstone of a Chamber’s mission. A big shout out to Mary Anderson of the San Lorenzo Valley Chamber, Danny Reber of the Scotts Valley Chamber and our host, Leatha Brown of Roaring Camp Railroad for pulling off such an amazing event. When 400 people gather in one place for a couple hours of fun, laughter and friendship you can feel the synergy. There was a buzz of excitement as we noshed on great appetizers and sipped wine from our local wineries. We are deeply appreciative of the vendors who provided us with food and drink, music and entertainment: Affordable Chef, Café Hanna, Cisco Jim a.k.a Sheriff. Grocery Outlet, House Family Vineyards, Jesse Gabriel Photography, Kiss Catering, Left Bend, Mickey’s Catering, Mountain Mike’s Pizza, Mrs. A’s Salsa, Music Now DJ (Jack Crawford), Richard Hensolt musician, Santa Cruz Mountain Wine Growers Association, Shoppers Corner, Silver Mountain Vineyards, Slatter Construction, Staff of Life, Steel Bonnet, The Hot Pink Box, The Red Pearl Chinese Food, Togo’s, Turkey Boat, Wargin Wines, Woodstocks Pizza and Wright’s Station. One might ask, why put on a large event of this magnitude? The answer is quite simple - the greater business community in the region needs to work cooperatively to achieve success in our local communities. Whether it is a land use issue in Los Gatos or Sunnyvale in Silicon Valley, a water issue in San Lorenzo Valley or Scotts Valley or a coastal problem like housing or homelessness in Santa Cruz or Capitola - the voice of the business community must work together to ensure that our concerns are heard. Your Santa Cruz Area Chamber will continue to reach beyond the boundaries of city and county to promote economic vitality in our region. Please remember to say hello and thank the other chambers who joined us - Aptos, Capitola-Soquel, Pajaro Valley, Campbell, Cupertino, Gilroy, Los Altos, Los Gatos, Mountain View, Saratoga, Silicon Valley Black Chamber, Silicon Valley Hispanic Chamber, Sunnyvale, Silicon Valley Organization, Sunnyvale and Mariposa. To take a note from the Golden State Warriors playbook, there is strength in numbers. And last Thursday afternoon the roar of positive energy rang loud and clear! We look forward to future collaborations and to seeing you around town. To see photos from this wonderful event, visit our homepage!
