City of Santa Cruz 2017 Overlay Project work is scheduled to occur on King and Market streets, Escalona Drive, Delaware and Goss avenues and Morrissey Boulevard on various days Monday, Nov. 13, through Friday, Nov. 17, with traffic impacts from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This project, funded by Measure H tax dollars, is rehabilitating local streets that have experienced significant deterioration. Monday, Nov. 13, through Wednesday, Nov. 15, the project will repave King Street, from Bay Street to east Mission Street. Traffic control will be in effect with one-way traffic only and major detours. The entire work week there will be construction on Escalona Drive. Traffic control will be in effect with major detours. Wednesday, Nov. 15, there will be pavement work on Delaware Avenue from Natural Bridges Drive to 900 feet east of Swanton Boulevard. Traffic control will direct two-way traffic with delays. On Tuesday, Nov. 14, there will be pavement work on Market Street from the Highway 1 overpass to Goss Avenue, and on Goss Avenue from Market Street to Elk Street. Traffic control will be in effect with one-way traffic only and major detours. The entire work week there will be pavement work on Morrissey Boulevard from Fairmount Avenue to Soquel Avenue. Traffic control will be in effect with major delays. Parking will be impacted on all streets. The public is advised to seek alternate routes if possible. The construction schedule is predicated on clear weather; any changes will be posted on the City website along with construction area map at the City of Santa Cruz website. The entire 2017 Overlay project is expected to be completed by Dec. 22 in time for the winter holidays.
