New Kitchen Line Up At Chaminade Resort & Spa Plus... Taco & Tequila Tuesdays, Dads & Grads Brunch Offerings and Farm to Table Dinner Series Make for a Tasteful Lineup This Summer Santa Cruz, California, {May 2016} … After 13 years of representing Chaminade Resort & Spa's award-winning culinary team, most recently as Executive Chef, Kirsten Ponza has been promoted to Director of Food & Beverage, and Nicholas Church has assumed the role of Executive Chef. Ponza has been with Chaminade Resort & Spa since 2003, holding multiple culinary positions including Pastry Chef, Executive Sous Chef and most recently Executive Chef. In 2004, Ponza took a brief leave of absence from Chaminade to work for Whose Catering Company of Toronto, Canada, where she served as a tour chef for The Rolling Stones. As Director of Food & Beverage, Ponza will be responsible for overseeing all front of the house food & beverage initiatives and operations. Bringing 28 years of culinary experience to his new position, Nicholas Church started in the culinary department at Chaminade Resort & Spa in 1994 as a line cook, working his way up to Executive Sous Chef, a position he held until 2012. Shortly thereafter, he fulfilled his dream of owning his own restaurant, Mama Mia's in Felton, CA., until 2014. He returned to Chaminade Resort & Spa as Executive Sous Chef in August 2015 under the leadership of Ponza. He attended Cabrillo College in Aptos, CA. In addition, the newly-renovated Chaminade Resort & Spa is serving up a tasteful lineup of culinary events this summer guaranteed to please participating palates. ARRIBA! On Saturday, June 11, from 11:30 am - 2:30 p.m., Linwoods will be offering an extensive graduation lunch buffet. Price is $19.95 for adults and $13.95 for children ages 6 - 12*. A three course prix fixe menu will be offered the same day from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Price is $45 per person*. On Sunday, June 19th from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Chaminade will be serving up an impressive menu including an outdoor grilled steak station, chilled organic salads, seafood specialties, local artisan cheeses and fresh fruits, made to order omelets, carving stations, delectable dessert displays and a special children's menu. WINERIES/FARMS PARTNER WITH CHAMINADE'S 2016 FARM TO TABLE SERIES Entering its ninth season as one of Santa Cruz's most anticipated dining events, Chaminade's Farm to Table wine dinner series will be partnering with the following wineries and farms this summer. The following wineries and dates for this year's dinners are: June 3rd - Fiesta Farm and Equinox/Bartolo Winery; July 8th - Fiesta Farm and Summit To Sea Wineries; August 5th - Stagnaros Seafood, Storr's Winery; September 9th - Everett Family Farm, Martin Ranch Winery; October 7th - Leftcoast Grassfed Beef, Route 1 Farms and Alfaro Winery. Newly appointed Executive Chef Nicholas Church will take guests on a culinary journey through the Central Coast showcasing the region's diverse abundance of local and organic farms, fruits, vegetables and produce inspired by the region's seasonal harvest. Guests have the opportunity to meet and mingle with Chef Church as well as representatives from the featured vintners and farms. Dinners take place on the Sunset Terrace or Courtyard Terrace with picturesque views of the Santa Cruz Mountains and Monterey Bay. Menus are announced within one month of the actual dinner. Individual ticket prices for Chaminade's Farm to Table dinners are $110 per person plus tax and gratuity and include a five course dinner and wines. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door. Overnight Farm to Table room packages are also available that include newly renovated accommodations for two, two tickets to the dinner, and breakfast for two the following morning.
