Susan M. Nemitz, Director of the Ramsey County Library in Minnesota since 2005, has accepted the position of Director of Libraries for the Santa Cruz Public Libraries. She follows Teresa Landers, who retired in May 2015 and Janis O’Driscoll, who has been Interim Director since May 2015. Ms. Nemitz has had a successful career in public libraries: “I believe in the power of public libraries to transform individual lives and communities.” She met the staff during two days of interviews in April and both she and the staff made an instant connection. Susan has a great deal of experience in building, renovating, and remodeling library facilities and is active in public library life in Minnesota. Her plans for arriving in Santa Cruz have not been set but she expects to assume her duties in June 2016.
